Kid Cudi Tweets New Album Title
The past few years have been up and down for Kid Cudi. While he released two successful albums in 2010 and 2011, he left his own label Dream On and stated that he plans to fully quit drugs. Nevertheless, fans waiting for music from the rapper/producer won’t need to wait long. Informally announced on June 5, Cudi tweeted the following statement: "My new album is entitled ‘indicud’, it will be my version of The Chronic 2001, some songs i'll produce, others i'll feat &/or play songwriter."
At the moment, indicud has no release date, but, according to AllHip-Hop.com, a 2012 or early 2013 release is possible.
Indicud is the follow-up to the rapper’s 2010 solo album Man on the Moon: The Legend of Mr. Rager. However, Cudi and Dot da Genius put out a rock-influenced collaborative album, WZRD, in 2011, which charted well.
Indicud won’t be the only new music Kid Cudi puts out this year. Signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label, he is appearing on the Cruel Summer compilation album, likely a companion to West’s short film of the same name that debuted recently at Cannes. Cudi’s appearing on the album with West, Big Sean, CyHi da Prynce, and other G.O.O.D. artists. Cudi, along with Big Sean, was part of the cast for West’s short film.
As far as Dream On is concerned, the rapper decided that it’s time for his music and production skills go move elsewhere. However, it appears he left the label amicably and is still on good terms with founders Patrick “Plain Pat” Reynolds and Emile Haynie.
