Keyboardist's Illness Forces Duran Duran to Cancel Tour
Duran Duran have decided to cancel the remainder of their "All You Need is Now" world tour due to keyboardist Nick Rhodes' health problems.
The New Wave band released a statement on Tuesday in which they revealed that Rhodes' illness is preventing them from concluding the final stage of their two-year-long tour.
"Rhodes, who has been unwell now for over a week, was advised by doctors today that he is not yet ready to perform, as he is still experiencing the same symptoms that have kept him from the stage for the last few nights," the group's management stated in their message that was published on their official website DuranDuran.com.
"The band are devastated that what has been a triumphant tour for them, with many highlights, has ended this way – and know that the fans will be as disappointed as they are. Nick held out all week, hoping that he would be well enough to perform again for these final few shows, but unfortunately the medical advice he has been given today requires him to continue to rest," it continued.
The exact nature of Rhodes' illness hasn't been told to the press yet but it is being assumed that he is either just exhausted or is suffering from some kind of virus. Whatever it is, it is not a serious thing and the 50-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.
The statement brings a premature end to the tour which was originally scheduled to be concluded on September 1 in Canada.
