Kelly Rowland Breaks Down in Tears During "Dirty Laundry" Performance
During a performance at the Fillmore Silver Spring in Washington D.C., emotions were running high for Kelly Rowland as she struggled to get through performing her latest single “Dirty Laundry”. Aptly named, the single discusses Kelly’s struggle through an abusive relationship as well as her jealous feelings towards Beyonce’s skyrocketed success.
Video footage of the performance shows Kelly singing on a stool getting chopped up while attempting to continue singing the ballad. About four minutes into the song, Rowland is seen hunched over holding her head in her hands and the band ceases to play. The audience quickly shows their support by singing parts of the song and then chanting Kelly’s name.
Eventually the singer is able to compose herself and she and the band finish performing the song. It’s very clear how personal and meaningful the song is to Kelly. Even prior to singing it, Kelly had said, "Doing this song for me was so therapeutic. Honesty, like my mama always says, is always the best policy."
According to Kelly, recording the song was also difficult. It took several days for her to be able to sing the song and “not sob through it”, as she put it!
Well things have definitely been looking up for Kelly lately! Her music career is in full swing and she is lending her expertise as a judge on The X-Factor on its upcoming season. Good for her!
