Kelly Clarkson Suggests Carrie Underwood as New Idol Judge

One "American Idol" winner thinks that another "American Idol" winner could be a judge. Kelly Clarkson Suggests Carrie Underwood as New Idol Judge

There have been all sorts of shake ups on American Idol and the original champ has voiced her opinion on who should fill the other vacant judges’ seat.  The Duets mentor has nominated someone who, like her, would understand exactly what the contestants are going through.

After naming Carrie Underwood as a good fit, Clarkson backed up the statement adding: "Didn't she major in journalism? And she can have that face ... that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good."

Underwood did graduate magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mass communications but she doesn’t seem to want to take on that role.  "I don't know if I could ever be a judge," she said. "I might be better as a mentor. I would rather encourage than criticize."

When Clarkson herself was asked if she was interested in the position, she explained: "I don't want to be a judge. Mentor is more my style. And not just mentoring, getting to be a part of the song with them, getting them amped up -- from our rehearsals to stage, it's so exciting being onstage. It's fun!"

It’s definitely not an easy job so it will be interesting to see who will be joining Mariah Carey for the upcoming season.
