Kelly Clarkson "So Getting Married" to Brandon Blackstock

There was a time when Kelly Clarkson had all but sworn off of love.  She gave a number of interviews talking about the fact that she had never been in love, didn’t like kissing because she was afraid of catching something and basically made it seem like it might not ever happen for her.

Times have definitely changed and the original American Idol winner seems to be thrilled about it. 

She has been dating Brandon Blackstock for more than a year and things appear to be going very well. During an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to promote her new single “Catch My Breath” she discussed their romance.

Clarkson explained that they met a few years ago while she was working with Rascal Flatts but didn’t know Blackstock was his manager’s son.  When he came up to her one day and said that they were from the same hometown she said she thought “Oh we’re so getting married.”  Amazing!  He had a girlfriend at the time so she backed off but admitted to being “on the prowl” as soon as he became single.

After her own parents got divorced, she took a more cautious approach to relationships and says that they are taking it slow and enjoying each other but still plans to make her love last with her talent manager beau.

While she made a living off of singing breakup anthems, she says that falling in love has changed her and made her more comfortable as an artist because she has more confidence.  Having someone to share things with is important and she adds: “I know that doesn't sound like 'cool, hard core, I'm 'Miss Independent' girl,' but it's the truth. I'm completely head over heels for him, he knows that."
