Ke$ha Song 'Tease Me' Leaked on the Internet

While Ke$ha has been rolling out cheap synth-heavy pop concoctions fit for the dance floor every few months, new track “Tease Me” found its way onto the internet today. Although there’s no word as to what the song is from and where it will go, “Tease Me” is no different from other Ke$ha singles: tawdry, out of control within limits, and processed thoroughly with Auto-Tune.

But, this time, Auto-Tune has completely consumed Ke$ha. Unlike every track of hers, characterized by in-your-face, brash vocals, “Tease Me” places Ke$ha’s voice in the background. Of course, that’s assuming that the song is finished and not just in a rough state with guide vocals.

“Tease Me,” at least on a musical level, is a pastiche and sonic collage of the 1990s, all done on a synth. The track opens with a guitar riff-like synth line, with its fuzz and static mimicking the raw (and at the time synth-less) sound of grunge. At about the two-minute mark, however, the song’s tune literally changes: From grunge-in-the-club, “Tease Me” moves head first into late ‘80s, early ‘90s house-influenced pop, which is actually better suited in this instance to Ke$ha’s withdrawn vocals.

Overall, though, “Tease Me” has a Rihanna-lite character – not a bad thing to be in today’s pop music spectrum, but it neutralizes Ke$ha, who, in spite of her cheap-as-a-Casio songs, appeared more ballsy than her bland pop peers.

Aside from the leak, “Tease Me” has ignited another controversy: It’s nearly identical to a track released by The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Gretchen Rossi. Titled “Revelation,” Rossi’s pop music dabbling went without much notice but uses a similar pool of sounds as “Tease Me.” Listen to the two tracks below. Do you think they’re similar?
