Ke$ha Previews New Single "Die Young"
If Beck can release a new album through sheet music, why not preview a single by whistling the melody and recording it? Apparently, Ke$ha took this approach for her upcoming single, “Die Young.” While the official single is expected to drop this month, according to the pop star’s comments at the MTV VMAs, a video of her on the Tokyo subway surfaced at the end of this week, with the singer supposedly whistling the song’s melody.
Watch the brief preview here:
In August, Ke$ha tweeted a message about the status of her album, stating she was putting in 24-hour days to finish it and that five tracks were being mixed. Presently, there’s no date for when the release, tentatively titled Spandex on the Distant Horizon, drops, although the pop star has talked about working with new influences – Iggy Pop, Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, and Ben Folds – and about revolutionizing pop music. At the VMAs, she said: "I went on a spirit journey, came back, worked with the Flaming Lips, worked with Iggy Pop — really explored my rock roots."
Previously, K-Dolla spoke about the change of sounds fans should expect. She stated: "The first two records talked more about partying, which is a great, magical part of life, but some songs on the new record are more personal and vulnerable. And you can hear more of the music I listen to when I'm lying in my bed. I'm not claiming that it's a rock record, but as long as it's f---ing good, you can call it whatever you want.”
