Ke$ha Checks Into Rehab for Eating Disorder
Ke$ha’s been on the charts recently for single “Timber,” a collaboration with Pitbull, but being almost constantly in the public eye appears to have put pressure on her. According to sources and eventually a statement from the singer herself, the “We R Who We R” pop star is headed to rehab for an eating disorder.
TMZ reported yesterday that, according to sources, Ke$ha checked into Timberline Knolls. It’s unclear how long she’ll be in treatment. The location, near Chicago, is also where Demi Lovato received treatment.
Since the announcement, Ke$ha spoke with TMZ about going to rehab, saying in a statement: "I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder ... to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am."
Ke$ha gained attention in 2009 for single “Tik Tok” and, a year ago, released sophomore album Warrior. The release, which reached a peak of No. 6 on the Billboard 200, saw a shift in her sound, from synth-based electro pop on her debut to one with more emphasis on guitars. During the recording process, she collaborated with Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and Iggy Pop. The release, as well, spawned singles “Die Young,” “C’mon,” and “Crazy Kids.”
