Katy Perry Transforms Herself into the Worst Birthday Party Entertainers in Latest Music Video
With her figure and pinup girl getups throughout her career, Katy Perry frequently plays sexy, from her
“I Kissed a Girl” days to the prominent cupcake bra from her “California Gurls” video. However, at points, she hasn’t been afraid to pass herself off as something else, including an awkward teenager in “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” and an older woman.
So Perry goes for the costumes and makeup again to channel the latter with the video for “Birthday.” Since a clip of her dressed as a bar mitzvah singer went live last week, she followed it up with the full video just a few days ago.
As a premise, Perry plays a series of “the worst” birthday party entertainers, from an aging go-go dancer to the aforementioned bar mitzvah MC, going by the names of Goldie Dancer, Yosef Shulem, Kriss The Clown, Ace The Animal Trainer, and Princess Mandee. Her characters then proceed to go through a series of birthday parties.
“Birthday,” which features a picture of Perry and her sister in the single artwork, follows “Dark Horse,” her latest No. 1 track on the Billboard Hot 100. The Juicy J-featuring song originally debuted as a promo in the fall and then came out officially this year. It’s a $35 fee for single passengers and
Prism is Perry’s latest No. 1 album, selling enough copies to make it the sixth best-selling release from a woman in 2013.
