Katy Perry To Debut 'Wide Awake' Music Video Today

Katy Perry will soon debut the music video for Wide Awake, a track taken from the re-release of the studio album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. The song is a mix of dance-pop and electronic music with lyrics describing the break up of her brief marriage to Russell Brand and her new life, now that she is moving on. During the song, Katy repeats the words "wide awake" many times, as a symbol that she is fully aware of her situation now and she knows what is going on.

"Wide Awake" is the eighth track to be released as a single from The Teenage Dream albums, and has managed to notch a top ten place in the charts.  

The music video is due for release today, and according to the teaser on the web, viewers are expecting to see a "fairy tale type of story". Further reported leaks state that a young girl is seen reading a story book in which the Teenage Dream singles each feature as seven individual chapters in the book. The eighth and final chapter of the storybook hence is "Wide Awake".

In commenting about the music video, Katy said, "I just wanted to tell a story about myself going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze." She mentioned the good and bad parts of her life, but then stated a valuable belief of hers, "I think what probably kept me going is just the purity of my belief in music."

A lyric video has been around for some time. Unlike the regular lyric clips, this one has lots of useful and interesting still shots from the megastar's life so far.
