Katy Perry Tells Jay Leno Third Album is Nearly Done, Announces Title With Truck
We’ve all been wondering what Katy Perry will do for a follow-up for 2010’s Teenage Dream. Previously, she and occasional songwriter Bonnie McKee spoke about a darker, more mature sound, but a title or release date had yet to be revealed at the time.
For a glimmer of what possibly to expect, Perry went on Jay Leno on Friday, July 26 to promote her upcoming movie, Smurfs 2. In discussing her upcoming Vogue cover shoot, which involved doing a cleanse, to her movie, Perry went onto speak about her third studio album.
Although the singer didn’t reveal a title or release date, she did tell the talk show host the album should come out “soon.” She went onto say: "I had a lot of time to reflect and I think that will continually be what I always do. Connecting to my core and trying to bring an honest message that people can relate to.”
Since her interview, however, Perry might have indicated what the album title and release date could be. Friend Adam Lambert tweeted a picture of a semi truck displaying the following on the side: KATY PERRY · PRISM · 10.22.13
Perry later directed fans, through her Twitter account, to spot the truck: “Find the #PRISM semi, take a picture and I'll RT you. Don't worry, Los Angeles is just the first stop on the map.”
Based on previous statements from McKee, the album that may be called Prism is “a little more grown-up,” one in which Perry is “taking a new approach.” Max Martin, Dr. Luke, and Sia are producing.
