Katy Perry Taking Time With ‘Teenage Dream’ Follow Up
Earlier this month, PerezHilton.com revealed Katy Perry’s follow-up to 2010’s Teenage Dream could arrive as soon as summer 2013. But, last week, the singer spoke about her potential third album, explaining she has been writing songs but, ultimately, is taking her time.
Although no album has materialized, Perry has its details, from tone to tour, in her head. New material is taking shape, but the album, it appears from her statements, has no concept yet. No matter what happens, the “Part of Me” singer does not intend to duplicate her sophomore release. She explained about the process in a recent interview with Billboard: "It's a bit of a different game because we have some new [corporate] parents. So I have to respect that. I'm also an adult and what I'm not going to do is hurry up to fan, to shoot myself in the foot.
"I need to live so I have something worth singing about, that's always been the case for me."
Talking about her third album’s potential sound, she said: "I'll be very pleased if the vision I have in my head becomes a reality. […] It's not of any interest for me to try and outdo myself at every corner."
Based on PerezHilton.com’s reports, the third album will likely have a darker sound, which Perry spoke about in interviews from early in 2013. If the singer’s third album won’t be similar to Teenage Dream, what do you think it should sound like?
