Katy Perry's Swirly Bra Banned By Insurers

After seeing the California Gurls video, I just knew that swirling peppermint candy bra was going to get someone hurt!  All kidding aside, though, it did cause an incident that could have led to injury.  Fortunately, things turned out alright for Katy Perry but her insurance company is not allowing that particular item to be used while she’s touring – at least for now.

What happened was that, during a live performance, while she was wearing her famous bra, Perry’s hair got caught up in the spinning mechanism, leading to a somewhat hair-raising situation (forgive the pun – it was just too easy). 

As the “Wide Awake” singer explains: "My hair got caught in the wheels of my spinning peppermint bra and began to coil around and around. I'm forced to just go with it so, by the end of the song, it looked quite like I was licking my own tit. What a girl does for her art."

I’m sure there are some fans out there who would have loved to have seen that!

While Perry “seriously doubts” she could be truly injured by the bra, her insurance company isn’t taking any risks.  After all, a neck strain wouldn’t exactly be the best thing to suffer while she’s touring.

In the meantime, Perry is hoping the device can be redesigned because, really, she likes it so much that she wears it during her show’s opening number.

For now, I guess she’ll just have to go braless!
