Katy Perry's Ring Just a Valentine's Day Gift from John Mayer
When pop star Katy Perry stepped out for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner with boyfriend John Mayer last week, a sizable rock was spotted on her ring finger. As expected, the piece of jewelry gave rise to media suspicions that the two singing stars may have already gotten engaged.
While an official confirmation or denial regarding the rumor has yet to be issued from their camp, a source reportedly close to the two stars has told People's magazine: "[They're] not engaged."
People's source supports the views of British tabloid The Sun's insider, who claimed that Mayer bought Perry a £30,000 ring as a simple Valentine's Day present and certainly not as an engagement symbol.
"He's trying so hard to prove that his bad behavior towards women has changed now. He saw the ring and thought it was a perfect gift for Valentine's Day," their source said.
The "Part of Me" crooner happily accepted her beau's gift, as the source further added: "She loved it. There's no way she's ready to get married yet so a commitment ring is perfect."
The ring in question, which we now know was not an engagement ring, was a custom-made product of the famous jewelry designer Daniel Gibbings. His representative has also revealed that Mayer's ring was 'more trendy and boho' unlike the classically-designed stuff used for proposals.
