Katy Perry Reveals Fourth ‘Prism’ Single: “Birthday”
Prism, as a whole, turned into another hit for Katy Perry. Not only did the album itself get to the top of the charts in the U.S. and U.K., but it generated two successful singles: “Roar” and “Dark Horse.”
After “Dark Horse,” which originally came out as a promo and then later officially released, many wondered what Perry would do next, and now, she plans to follow it up with “Birthday.”
The pop star announced the track this week by tweeting a picture of the album artwork. The image, if you can’t tell, features the singer and her sister at a birthday party in the 1990s.
Right now, there’s no official release date for the single.
“Birthday” follows “Roar,” “Unconditionally,” and “Dark Horse.” The latter of these three originally debuted in September, getting into the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 without any promotion. From there, the track featuring Juicy J officially came out this year and spent several weeks toward the top of the charts and generated controversy with its ancient Egypt-themed music video.
Prism is Perry’s third album, released in October 2013. The album went onto reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold enough copies to be the sixth-best selling album in the world that year and the best-selling album from a woman.
