Katy Perry and Metallica Added to Grammy Lineup
The Grammys have added pop superstar Katy Perry and thrash metal band Metallica to its list of performers who will showcase their talents in the 55th installment of the award show on January 26 at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
The event's organizers made the announcement a few hours ago through the official Grammys account on Twitter.
"#KatyCats! @KatyPerry just added to the list of performers for the 56th #GRAMMYs on Jan. 26th," the tweet read.
In a separate, more latest 140-worder, they added: "ICYMI: @Metallica will be performing on this year's #GRAMMYs on 1/26."
So what does one expect Perry to perform when she takes the Grammy stage later this month? "Roar" and "Unconditionally" – the two songs from Prism which are out – were already used by her in two award ceremonies late last year. The next single from her latest album set for release is "Dark Horse," and it is quite likely she might do it at the Grammys.
It is the fourth time in the past six years that the 29-year-old has been chosen to perform at the prestigious award show.
Meanwhile, Metallica's set will have special performance from Chinese pianist Lang Lang. In addition to the aforementioned artists, this year's Grammys will also have performances from Lorde, Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Pink, Nate Reuss, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Blake Shelton, Robin Thicke and Chicago.
