Kanye West’s Adidas Collaboration Confirmed
Kanye West is determined to get into the fashion world. While his own collection flopped a few years back, it looks like he’s been pursuing brand collaborations. After speaking out against Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent, West finally got a deal with Adidas that was confirmed this week.
Although the rapper hinted at the partnership in an interview with Hot 97, Adidas revealed the news this week, issuing the following statement: "For 2014, we welcome to the Adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in streetwear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter."
The “Bound 2” rapper has said his collection should be in stores by fall 2014, so we’ve got a while.
At the same time, West’s pursuits in fashion aren’t overshadowing his music. In an interview with Philadelphia radio station Power 99 last week, he talked about recording a follow-up to Yeezus; although a title hasn’t yet been revealed, the album is expected to come out next year. Right now, Q-Tip, who collaborated with West on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Rick Rubin are producing.
Along with a new solo album, the rapper appears to have plans for a follow-up with Jay Z to Watch the Throne and for collaboration Cruel Summer.
