Kanye West Confirms New Album
Although Kanye West has put out new music over the past two years, he has not released a solo album since 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Between when that album dropped and the present, listeners waited through the many updates regarding Watch The Throne, his collaboration with Jay-Z, and then heard his G.O.O.D. Music artists on the Cruel Summer compilation, which actually went with a short film West debuted at Cannes in 2012.
Rumors about West working on another solo release began in mid-2012, with producer and Def Jam exec No I.D. revealing he was involved in Cruel Summer and on West’s solo album. The producer said at the time: "He hasn't missed yet. It's what you expect, and everything you don't expect. It's gonna be great."
West, however, confirmed the rumors at a recent Paris, France concert, in which he told the audience: “Working on my new sh-t.”
West then went onto say he will be back in a few months.
The status of West’s album has been kept under wraps, which, considering the level of security that went into preventing a leak during his Watch The Throne sessions, is not out of character. September involved a hoax, in which a website falsely attributed to Def Jam claimed West’s project was called Black American Psycho and would be released on October 23.
Later at the 2013 Grammys, The-Dream claimed West was recording in Paris.
