Kanye Plays 20 Tracks from New Album at London Club
When recording an album, Kanye West seems to prefer keeping things under wraps, until he lets out a track or two for a select group to hear. He took this approach over a year ago with Yeezus and seems to be doing it again with its follow up.
Only this time, according to a KTT report from a private London party over the weekend, he didn’t just play a sampling – he went through 20 new tracks!
Following two performances at the Wireless Festival, West and Virgil went behind the DJ booth at a private club and played 20 tracks from his laptop. According to tweets from clubgoers that night, the new music sounds “dark” and “hellish” – which is sort of in line with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus.
There have been rumors West has been recording in Florence – or will be titling the album “Made in Florence.” An Italian newspaper earlier this year interviewed the rapper, who then talked about being in the countryside and looking at fabrics while composing his album there.
A title and release date haven’t yet been announced for the album following Yeezus, which dropped in June 2013. That release peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 and earned West a Grammy for Best Rap Album. The release further resulted in singles “Black Skinhead” and “Bound 2,” which featured now-wife Kim Kardashian in the video.
