"Kamate" Video Review
The 2007 Rugby World Cup is currently in progress and is being hosted in France during September and October, 2007. Now, in order to promote the Cup, the French TV channel TF1 has released the official clip of the Anthem of the Rugby World Cup titled "Kamate".
It's a warlike electronic summer-club tune inspired in a traditional war dance generally used by the team of All Blacks (National team of Rugby in New Zealand).
"Ka Mate", in its origin, is a Māori haka composed by Te Rauparaha, war leader of the Ngāti Toa tribe of the North Island of New Zealand. Te Rauparaha composed Ka Mate as a celebration of life over death (Pōmare 2006) after his lucky escape from pursuing Ngati Maniapoto and Waikato enemies. He had hidden from them in a food-storage pit, and climbed back into the light to be met by a chief friendly to him - Te Whareangi (the "hairy man").
Overall, it's a great track, an uptempo song mixed with some tribal rhythms.
