Justin Bieber Releases “Heartbreaker” as Part of Music Mondays
After it debuted in a perfume ad over the summer, “Heartbreaker” was officially released today as part of Music Mondays, a new effort from Justin Bieber to introduce new tracks over the next few weeks.
Music Mondays, according to statements made from the singer, will feature one new track every week for the next 10 weeks. And, they’re expected to get better. The singer tweeted: "Each week the songs get better #musicmondays. maybe u might get lucky with two songs in a week."
In introducing the slow-paced R&B song, Bieber tweeted: "These songs are different. These are my #journals."
Aside from being darker and more R&B influenced than the singer’s previous material, “Heartbreaker” is supposedly semi-autobiographical. In getting more personal, the singer does a spoken word refrain in the middle, rather than have a rapper provide some filler. Bieber has said: "It's a song for people going through heartbreak—like I was when I wrote it. It means so much to me to be able to share what I was, and still am, going through, with my fans. I'm very proud of this song and I hope it gives my fans some insight into my heart."
According to Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, the singer’s going in a new direction with his “Journals” – which may or may not be an album title. If you haven’t heard “Heartbreaker” yet, listen to it here:
