Juicy J Announces Next Solo Album
Juicy J left Three 6 Mafia just a few years ago, and his solo career, with album Stay Trippy, started off on a good note. To keep up that high, he announced a new solo album with a tweet this week.
Being succinct and direct, he wrote: “New juicy j album 2014 #thehustlescontinues”
Stay Trippy came out in August 2013 and generated three successful singles: “Bandz a Make Her Dance,” “Show Out,” and “Bounce It.” The release featured a range of artists from Wiz Khalifa, also one of the album’s executive producers, to Justin Timberlake. When out toward the end of the summer, the album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 64,000 copies. The release has since sold just under 140,000 copies, as of November.
For those familiar with Juicy J either through Miley Cyrus’ twerking antics or Katy Perry’s promo single “Dark Horse,” the rapper started as a member of Three 6 Mafia, a hip-hop group beginning in the early 1990s that evolved into one of the key trap acts. Throughout that time, he periodically put out solo albums, starting with Chronicles of the Juice Man in 2002. Stay Trippy marked his third solo release and first since leaving the group.
Right now, although a title and release date have not been announced, the follow up is expected to come out in 2014.
