Judge Orders Chris Brown to Stay in Jail for a Month
Yesterday, a judge ordered Chris Brown to remain in jail until April 23 for two issues: to determine if the singer committed criminal assault and for violating the terms of his probation after being kicked out of rehab.
Brown’s current troubles stretch back to Friday, when he was arrested from a Malibu treatment center, where he was going through anger management rehabilitation. The judge overseeing his case issued a warrant, as Brown had not been following the program’s rules. This resulted in him being thrown out of the program and thus violating the terms of his probation for assaulting Rihanna in 2009.
Back in January, the judge ordered him to stay in rehab for anger management.
According to TMZ, Brown violated three of the program’s rules. He was told to stay away from women, but ended up touching someone’s elbows and hands. He refused a random drug test. And, during a group session, he made disruptive comments. One source further claims Brown had a sexual encounter while in rehab.
Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos appeared in court on Monday to attempt to get the pop star out of jail, but the judge ordered Brown to remain there, without bail, until a probation violation hearing on April 23.
Should the “Turn Up The Music” singer be found guilty of violating the terms of his probation, he could face up to eight years in prison.
