John Mayer Undergoes Throat Surgery

The 34-year old revealed that after a considerable wait, it was decided that surgery was his only option John Mayer Undergoes Throat Surgery

John Mayer suffered throat inflammation a few months ago that sidelined him from the music business for some time. Earlier today, he issued a statement on his personal blog, in which he revealed that a surgical procedure has been performed on his throat to correct that problem.

He logged in to his account on micro blogging website Tumblr to tell his fans that an inflamed growth called granuloma that was placed just above his vocal cord, was removed in the surgical process.

"It's been a very long process in waiting to see if time was an alternative to surgery, but ... there was no change for the better," the ‘Your Body Is a Wonderland’ singer stated.

The news of the granuloma diagnosis was broken by the singer himself last month. He was then forced to postpone several of his planned concerts, which also included a performance with Tony Bennett in LA.

Mayer’s next album titled ‘Born and Raised’ was originally scheduled for release this month but the granulomas have forced him to delay it as well. The Battle Studies’ follow-up disc is now expected to be released in the early part of 2012.
