John Mayer Reveals 'Born and Raised' Release Date
At one point, John Mayer’s fifth studio album Born and Raised looked like it would be put on indefinite hold. Mayer, recovering from surgery to remove a granuloma, has since finished recording and even has a tour planned to start next month.
Yesterday, Mayer announced the release date for Born and Raised, which is scheduled for May 22 and comes out on Columbia Records. “Shadow Days,” which he previewed a few weeks ago through his Tumblr blog, is the first single, and a full version since surfaced on Cities97 radio. The track officially comes out March 6 through iTunes.
Aside from the first single and release date, Mayer has put out the full tracklisting for Born and Raised. The songs are as follows:
Queen of California
The Age of Worry
Speak for Me
Something Like Olivia
Born & Raised
If I Ever Get Around To Living
Love is a Verb
Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967
Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey
A Face To Call Home
Born & Raised (Reprise)
Mayer and Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt) produced the album, and for the reprise of “Born & Raised,” David Crosby and Graham Nash lend their vocals.
Just ending before Born and Raised hits stores, a tour for the album begins on April 9 in Bloomington, Ind. With 18 dates, Mayer’s upcoming tour is his first in two years and has partnered with the North California Institute of Research and Education (NCIRE), a program that assists veterans with readjusting to civilian life. For this cause, concertgoers can purchase tickets through section Tickets-For-Charity. Additionally, no tickets are available through presale, and the guitarist has set up an eBay auction for front row seats and a chance to meet him.
What do you think of the full version of “Shadow Days,” which features Mayer’s attempt at steel-lap guitar? Do you plan to catch him on tour?
