John Legend's Brother Debuts Hold Me Down, Prepares to Release Mixtape and Album

John Legend is keeping it in the family. His younger brother, Vaughn Anthony, is set to release his own mixtape, entitled Life of a Player, in March and his self-titled album debut in May. Having already worked with India.Arie, Estelle, Robin Thicke and Rick Ross, Anthony’s mixtape will include collaborations with Prodigy, Olivia, as well as a repeat collabo with the previously mentioned Ross.

In anticipation of his May album debut, Anthony has released “Hold Me Down,” a song that features him and his brother over a breezy-sounding track. The brothers are at their vocal best over a song that searches for the perfect woman.

“I’ve been looking so long, and I know she’ll come along,” sings Legend, introducing one’s ears to the song and to a man who is looking for the ultimate soulmate.

Anthony, on the other hand, is looking for a sexy “dimepiece” who will accept his philandering ways. “She knows I’m gonna do wrong, but I’ll never bring it back home,” Anthony sings candidly. “Accepts me, respects me, her love is strong.”

Still, the two combine to mutually agree on a woman that will “hold me down” over the chorus.

The last few minutes of the song involve both Legend and Anthony crooning around each other’s voices until the very last second. Now, that’s brotherly love.
