John Farnham Steps Up To The Stage Again For Another Concert Tour

Whispering Jack, John Farnham, is going to be back on the road again later this year. This latest tour "Whispering Jack 25 years On" will be a concert in two parts, starting with John and the band revving up the crowd with some of the Farnham favourites, while the second part of the show will be a complete performance of the Whispering Jack album – the first time ever done on stage.

As soon as word got around that "Jack was back", the ticket offices in Australia were overwhelmed, with demand for tickets reaching the point of shows selling out in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Tour promoters have now added extra performances in each city just to cope with demand.

It has been 25 years since Whispering Jack hit the shelves, and a momentous occasion it was. For Farnham it was a do or die effort – a risk that certainly paid off, restoring his flagging career at the time. The album reached 24 Platinum status, selling over 1.7 million copies, and spending an incredible 26 weeks at the top of the ARIA charts. The singles since released from the album further cemented his status – the anthemic You're the Voice, followed by Pressure Down, Reasons and A Touch of Paradise.

More hit albums followed in the next few years of which Age of Reason and Chain Reaction were the most popular.

John Farnham said about ten years ago that he was going to retire, but he actually meant that he would just scale down his hectic workload. Since that time he has embarked on a few short concert tours, and now he is back again.

In 2010, he released a new album titled Jack, his first studio album in over five years. The CD contains seven brand new songs and covers of some of John's favourite performers including Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield and Percy Sledge.
