Joe Strummer 10th Anniversary Calendar With Unseen Photos To Be Released

A calendar celebrating The Clash legend Joe Strummer is in the works according to RTT News. In remembrance of Strummer, who passed away at the age of fifty years old back in 2002, the Strummerville charity and collective is putting together a 2012 calendar featuring unseen photos of the band member.

Per the Strummerville site, the calendar will also contain "12 months of Strummer’s most inspirational quotes" and "hand-written artifacts from his personal archive."

“We are very excited to present this calendar as our first offering for Joe's 10th anniversary next year,” said Strummerville, who run a campfire and bandstand every year at Glastonbury festival as a tribute to the musician.  “It's interesting how even 10 years after Joe's passing some of his words of wisdom are more pertinent now than ever before and we hope that this is reflected in the calendar and it'll be celebrated by Strummer fans around the world to special.”

Joe Strummer Christmas cards are also on the way.  Strummerville has decided to produce the holiday greetings, one of which Strummer previously drew himself, and gave to his family and friends. The other card will feature The Clash star in a never seen before photo, handing money to a homeless man in New York. The picture was taken by Bob Gruen.  “I never saw Joe pass a needy or homeless person without giving them something,” Gruen is quoted as saying.

Strummer, who was inducted intp the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his band The Clash, passed away from a congenital heart defect, something the singer had no knowledge of.  Since his passing, fans from all over the world have yet to allow Strummer's legend to fade away.
