Jim Jones Talks About a Kanye West Collab
Yesterday, Kanye West’s "Christmas in Harlem" was released which included guest appearances from Teyana Taylor, CyHi The Prynce, G.O.O.D. Music rappers Big Sean and Pusha T, along with Diplomat group’s Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Vado. The Diplomat’s Jones didn’t waste any time as earlier today he quickly sat down to talk about the new song.
Speaking about how the song came together, Jones explained, "I didn't know nothing about it, I'm just getting hip to that right now but it's simple though. Sh--, if I was Kanye I would've called us too. It don't make sense if they from Chicago, they would've made 'Christmas in Chicago' then right?"
The Diplomats have a history of making festive songs as they released their album ‘A Dipset X-Mas’ in 2006 which also contained the moderately hit track ‘Ballin' on Christmas.’
The collaboration came as a surprise as just a few months ago Cam'ron took a clear shot at Kanye in one of his songs. In one of the verses Cam'ron rapped, "And Kanye, you a sucka n---a, dissed Dame so my attitude is f--- the n---a/ Sucked off Jigga, how you gonna live with that?/ Took the beat, now come get it back."
Jones clarified, "I don't think people took what we did so serious more than it was [just the] art of the music that we do. I guess Cam had something on his mind but it wasn't really a life-or-death situation. And I know Kanye's a very smart person, he's got a great spirit, so it's great that he chose to look past anything that was going on. I appreciate it."
