Jessica Simpson gave birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew, earlier this year but she’s learning very quickly that most women do not just drop their pregnancy weight after giving birth – it’s usually a process.  This is especially true because, with a new baby, comes new schedules, new responsibility and a newfound appreciation for the term “sleep deprivation.”  It can be really difficult, therefore, to put nutrition and exercise at the top of the list when you’re already exhausted.

Plus, many women stop watching their diet when they are expecting which, Simpson, admits was what she did: "I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant, and I wanted to enjoy it," she says.  She lists macaroni and cheese among her favorites.

The 32-year-old mom also admits that she didn’t realize that the “weight didn’t all come off with the baby.”  Now, she’s working on slimming down with the help of Weight Watchers.  She will begin appearing in ads next week.

In terms of fitness, she’s really just trying to walk it off since she said that her “boobs are way too big to run” right now. 

I think she really does appeal to the average new mother because she is honest about the fact that she ate whatever she wanted while she was pregnant, her “body is not bouncing back like a supermodel” and she’s got to work at getting back in shape.  It will be fun to see her Weight Watchers progress!
