Jennifer Lopez’s Album May Be Out Soon
Since 2011, Jennifer Lopez has experienced a career resurgence of sorts. While, during the late ‘00s, her singles received minimal attention and her film career shifted toward straight-to-DVD fare, her collaboration with RedOne “On The Floor” put her back to the top. So, why stop now?
Telling her fans through Twitter to expect new material soon, Lopez wrote: “Are u ready for what’s coming??? And maybe sooner than u think!”
According to reports dating back to January 2013, Lopez is teaming up with RedOne again for her upcoming effort, and the release is now scheduled to drop later in 2013. Previously, the producer known for collaborating with Lady Gaga told MTV to expect a blending of genres: “It’s a very special album. It feels like this album, to us, has to have everything about her, not just one thing.”
He additionally explained the release will be much like Lopez’s 2001 collaboration with Ja Rule. Considering One Direction have been capitalizing on that late 1990s boy band sound, who’s ready for some more Millennium-inspired pop?
Lopez’s music career reached its nadir in 2007, with the release of Brave. While not performing poorly, its total U.S. sales of 168,000 were significantly lower than previous efforts. 2011’s Love?, her first full-length release on Island, did far better, selling 334,000 copies in the U.S. and spawning singles “I’m Into You,” “On the Floor,” and “Papi.” Out of these, “On the Floor” was the top-selling single of her career in Europe.
