Jennifer Hudson In Talks to Become American Idol Judge
Could Jennifer Hudson be going back to her roots? Well according to reports, it seems that the powerhouse singer is in talks to return to American Idol, as a judge on the show’s 13th season. Hudson was eliminated from the show in 2004, finishing in seventh place, but went on to win an Oscar two years later and fulfill a career in music.
None of the four judges from this past season will be returning to Idol this next go-round. Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, the show’s last original judge, are not expected to appear on season 13.
There had been rumors that the new judging panel would consist of only Idol alumni, sparking whispers of season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson’s return, as well as season 2’s Clay Aiken and season 8’s Adam Lambert. Clarkson’s rep has shot down these reports and Lambert’s team claims they haven’t been approached for the position.
Jennifer Hudson’s rep refused to comment on the rumors. It would indeed be interesting to see her on the other side of the stage this time around! She has certainly made her presence known in the music and film industry and would surely be helpful to the Idol hopefuls having been in their shoes.
On that note, Hudson has released a new single titled “Gone, Gone, Gone” which is a 90’s throwback tune where she delivers her signature powerful vocals. Listen to it below!
