Jennifer Hudson Explains Her Escape from Death
Sometimes small things in life can have great repercussions. The truth behind this fact of nature can be observed with the example of Jennifer Hudson, who may not have been alive today if she hadn’t decided to go and see her fiancé David Otunga on the fateful day of October 24, 2008.
In a recent interview with Ebony, Hudson said that the day, on which her mother, brother and nephew were murdered, her original plan was to be with them.
But instead of visiting them in Chicago, the Spotlight-singer had a change of heart and eventually settled on watching her fiancé’s WWE fight in Florida. That trip with Otunga to Florida proved to be a lifesaving experience, otherwise she could have also met the same unfortunate fate that the slain members of her family did.
Recalling the event, the 30-year old Grammy-winner told the publication: "He wanted me to come out to Florida with him instead of going to Chicago. I flew out to see him; that's why I'm still here. That's one of the things that saved my life. Because I could have been home with my mum then."
It wasn’t easy for her to express this thought even though three years have passed since that incident.
Hudson added, "I've never said that before, and I can't believe I just said that now. But I didn't know."
It should be noted that her sister’s estranged husband William Balfour was later charged with all the Hudson family murders.
