JCP Cares Names Blake Shelton Ambassador

The judge from "The Voice" chooses to use his fame and notoriety to help worthy causes. JCP Cares Names Blake Shelton Ambassador

Blake Shelton has long been thought of as a nice guy and, combined with his increased popularity due to his involvement with The Voice, he was an obvious choice for JCPenney’s new JCP Cares program.

The country singer has been tapped as an ambassador for the cause that raises money and awareness for select charities by “inviting customers to donate by rounding their purchases up to the nearest dollar.”  A new charity will be chosen each month.

The first cause to benefit from the program will be the USO which has always been dedicated to "lifting the spirits of America's troops and their families." Excellent pick!  To celebrate Shelton’s involvement and the launch of the program, Fort Drum soldiers and their families will be receive free tickets to his July 6th tour date in Watertown, NY.

On top of the donations that will come from store customers, JCPenney throw in an additional dollar (up to $50,000) to the organization for every person who uses Foursquare and checks into a JCPenney location from July 23-31. Getting involved can just mean remembering to check-in while you’re at the mall!  How great is that!?

Some of the future charities who will benefit include the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Teach for America, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Share our Strength and the Salvation Army.
