Jane's Addiction 'Underground' Music Video
Jane's Addiction has just released the music video for Underground, the first track on their latest album The Great Escape Artist.
In the clip, a pimped-out lead singer Perry Farrell, performs in a dark seedy "underground" setting. The video shows scenes of activities most people never see - scantily dressed "ladies of the night", a card shark wielding a knife, Ouija boards. The list goes on, but as the song is about the "Underground" the scenery is just presenting the viewer with some of the debauchery in another world.
The clip was filmed in Los Angeles' Cafe Club Fais Do-Do, in an attempt to present what the band is all about.
The video begins with Perry Farrell dressed in tight black pants, large black hat, loose black coat with a fur scarf and no shirt. He starts to sing into a stand mounted microphone just as the drummer begins to bash away. Immediately one realises that this is one heavy metal track. The drums, the loud bass all contribute to one track that commands to be played loudly.
Quick camera shots show some of the "ladies" in various states of dress, or undress, scantily clad in brief underwear and fishnet stockings. Mainly, the video shows Jane's Addiction performing, but the viewer is shown around the place momentarily before coming back to the band.
Some of the scenes tend to be a bit "kinky", showing unusual costumes, seedy poker games, un-accountable movements on a Ouija board. It is all about life in the Underground.
This is one heavy metal track for lovers of hard rock. Jane's Addiction is one of the bands on the list of VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock".
