Jada Pinkett Defends How She's Parenting Willow Smith
Willow Smith might be really young and relatively unknown in the music industry but she has already made quite an impression with her off-beat outfits, ambitious hairstyles and ever-changing looks.
While some people have been really critical of how Jada Pinkett and Will Smith have chosen to raise their children (especially after pictures surfaced of the 11-year-old with a tongue piercing which she later said was fake), Willow’s mom is very strong in her belief that her approach is right.
In a Facebook post, Pinkett fired back at critics saying that she wants to give her daughter the message that, as a female, she has full control over who she is and that she belongs to no one but herself.
As a result, Willow is free to do whatever she wants to do with her since “her beauty, her value, her worth is not measured by the length of her hair.” She really touched on a nerve when she said that little girls should not “be a slave to even their mother’s deepest insecurities, hopes and desires.”
Ultimately, she feels that women are too often governed by what our culture believes they should be and wants Willow to know that she doesn’t have to abide by those arbitrary rules.
When you think of it that way, Jada Pinkett definitely has a point.
