Jack White and Neil Young Collaborate for New Album
The news kind of came out of left field: Jack White and Neil Young are collaborating together.
Young’s promoting a new album, A Letter Home, and as a result, he stopped by Billboard to essentially tell listeners what to expect. For one, he and Jack White collaborated together and even recorded at the former White Stripes member’s Third Man studios in Nashville.
Right now, at least in terms of what the two rock musicians did together, that’s the extent we know. But Young further went onto reveal that the album should be out soon and isn’t something “ready for prime time.”
The tracklisting, as well, consists of covers. As to this decision, he explained: "They're songs that I love, songs that changed my life, songs that made it so that I understood what someone else was saying to me, songs by greater writers."
Young made this announcement the same time news of Pono, his crowdfunded digital music service and portable player, emerged.
White himself, after being in three successful bands, appears to be on a solo streak. After the success of 2012’s Blunderbuss, his first official solo record, a follow-up is in the works, although there’s no word when the release will drop. Additionally, a new Dead Weather album, after a single earlier this year, may come out in 2015.
