Is Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat” Being Purged of Selena Gomez Reference?
Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat” has a catchy, electronic-influenced sound and a bubbly appearance by Nicki Minaj. But, in a brief second, Minaj’s lyrics reference Selena Gomez, who’s now finished with the Biebs. Now, claims a source to The Sun, the teen singer is preparing to avoid an awkward moment on stage by removing the reference to the Disney star in live performances.
The line, for those who haven’t heard the song already, is, "But I gotta keep an eye out for Selena." The source stated: "It's too late for Justin to remove the lyric from his album. But there's no way he's going to be singing it or having anyone else sing it, including Nicki, at his concerts.
"He knows it would just rub salt in the wounds for Selena and there would be a huge backlash from his girl fans, so it's easier forgotten."
What do you think Bieber or Minaj will say instead?
Last week, rumors began circulating that the teen star couple called it off for two reasons. One, both have hectic schedules, and two, Gomez was having trust issues. Neither star, however, has addressed the breakup directly, although sources claim the two broke it off a week before the news was announced.
“Beauty and a Beat” is Bieber’s latest single off album Believe, and the video, featuring supposed found footage of a pool party, came out nearly a month ago. If you haven’t seen it, watch it below:
