Instagram Photo Shows Foo Fighters Are Done Recording Eighth Studio Album
Throughout 2013, David Grohl spoke about the Foo Fighters’ eighth studio album, estimating a 2014 release date. Although an official date hasn’t been announced yet, an Instagram photo posted recently shows that the band has completed recording – so, theoretically, we should be seeing a new release soon.
Accompanying the photo was a caption indicating that the release is definite: "It's F-cking ON."
During the year, Grohl in various interviews indicated that the band wasn’t taking a conventional approach. This, however, isn’t entirely surprising; 2011 release, Wasting Light, was recorded entirely with analog equipment, including a desk from the former Sound City studios, where Nirvana recorded and about which Grohl put together a documentary. The last time he addressed the release, Grohl told Rolling Stone: "It's badass. We're doing something that nobody knows about, it's f-cking rad. We begin recording soon, but we're doing it in a way that no one's done before and we're writing the album in a way that I don't think has been done before."
As this release is essentially a comeback of sorts, the band recently started playing live. While a tour to promote the album hasn’t yet been announced, the Foo Fighters recently did a live show in Mexico and are part of the lineup for a pre Super Bowl show.
