Incubus Going on Another Break After Tour
Incubus released their latest album in 2011, right after a year-long break. Then, a tour in support of If Not Now, When? is scheduled to start in August, but once it wraps up, the band may go on hiatus again.
Speaking with Billboard, Brandon Boyd discussed preparing for the Honda Civic Tour, which Incubus is headlining with Linkin Park and Mutemath. After the tour, on the other hand, an album may not follow, as their contract with Epic Records is complete. Boyd, on the other hand, may put out a second solo album: “That's probably the most likely scenario. But as far as Incubus right now, we'll probably take another break. Hopefully it won't be as long (as the five-year wait for "If Not Now, When?') but what we'd like to do is arrive with the best of intentions and try to create music from a sense of urgency as well as purity and not necessarily based on a schedule. I know that can be frustrating for our listeners and stuff, but I think we'll make better music as a result."
What are the possibilities? As their contract with Epic ended on a low note, as the result of disorganization and a lack of leadership when L.A. Reid took over, Incubus may end up putting out albums on their own. Although, Boyd reveals, releasing under another label, if they sign, is a possibility.
