"I Luv It" Video Review

Young Jeezy returns with his single "I Love It". From the get-go it is clear to listeners that Jeezy has no intentions of tampering or even tinkering with his hit-making formula. This track picks off where Jeezy had previously left his listeners: in a state of appreciation for his growling drawl.

Young Jeezy has never been an exceptionally technical or great rapper. Why? His lyrics are cool mutations of his monstrous ad-libs and his scrapping mentality ("I do it from the heart, they just rhyme"). "I Luv it" unforgivably (and successfully) usurps the bounding energy and marching pace of DJ Toomp's "What you Know." Jeezy does not seem ashamed or even alarmed, and shreds any remnants (and hints) of "What you know" in between his timely and dragon-breathing breaths.

Jeezy's choice for the song title, not only reveals that he loves the "gangsters in the crowd," but he cherishes the role as the unlikely likeable underdog, "Maybe you n****s ain't listening /Open your eyes, I'm a blessing in the sky." While DJ Toomp does his best to disguise the beat, it's at most a nebulous shimmering techno-meets-Voyageur exploration. And that's fine with Jeezy, his lyrics act like parasites and totally chomp on this spacey backdrop, this synergy, ultimately, makes the track memorable and not, blatantly, a facsimile of that T.I. smash.
