"Hip Hop Saved My Life" Video Review
With politicians quick to point out the negatives in hip-hop, some must wonder, "are there any positives?" Answering that question with a resounding "Yes!" is Lupe Fiasco, who tells the story of an aspiring MC who can truly say "Hip Hop Saved My Life."
This is Lupe Fiasco's third single from Lupe Fiasco's "The Cool". Like "Dumb It Down", a low budget video directed by Dr. Teeth was filmed for it. The video includes the soulful Nikki Jean and Bun B with Lupe Fiasco.
Of the actual song, Lupe says, "It's about a brand X Houston rapper, with everybody branding him as this gangster, trappin' - the kind of rapper that a lot us thumb our noses at right now, but the way the story is told, he reflects every rapper."
