Health Concerns Force George Michael to Cancel Symphonica Tour

The 48-year old British musician is suffering from a severe case of 'community acquired' pneumonia. Health Concerns Force George Michael to Cancel Symphonica Tour

After being told by the doctors that he is suffering from an extreme case of pneumonia, George Michael took the decision of cancelling the rest of his European tour.

Earlier in the week, Michael complained of severe chest pains and was immediately rushed to a hospital. It led to the cancellation of his concert in Vienna where thousands of fans were scheduled to attend the show.

His media representative yesterday issued a statement, in which it was made clear that their client is suffering from pneumonia only and the rest of the media speculations are totally untrue.

Michael’s publicist further said that the doctors aren’t sure when he will be able to resume his Symphonica tour.

The Careless Whisper-singer was scheduled to perform 14 more concerts in the tour and as things currently stand, all of them have been postponed.

The doctors of the Medical University of Vienna confirmed to the reporters: "George Michael has severe community acquired pneumonia and is being treated as an inpatient. His condition has stabilised and he is responding to treatment. From the current point of view, the time until recovery cannot be estimated, but he will not be able to perform the rest of the tour. Besides medical treatment, complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory."

Michael’s publicist added, "He is receiving excellent medical care; he is responding to treatment and slowly improving. To ensure his complete well-being, George Michael’s doctors have advised that he cannot perform the rest of his Symphonica tour and that he instead takes a full and complete rest. As a result, all of the British dates of the Symphonica European tour will be postponed."
