Gucci Mane Announces New Album Title: ‘The State vs. Radric Davis 2: The Caged Bird Sings’
Gucci Mane has had a difficult year, dropped from his label and now facing up to 20 years in prison if convicted of recent charges. For these reasons, it was surprising this week that he announced a new album title and release date.
A straightforward Twitter post read: “The State Vs Radric Davis 2 : The Caged Bird Sings 12/25/2013”
The album’s a follow-up to his 2009 major label debut and is expected to include recent single “Mention Me,” produced by Mike WiLL Made It.
At the same time news of an album surfaced, the rapper faces up to 20 years in prison. Two incidents in September resulted in federal firearms charges; in both, he was in possession of two different guns when police investigated his behavior. One was on September 12, and two days later, as he behaved erratically and had been threatening people, the rapper was found to be in possession of a different gun.
The rapper born Radric Davis already has two felony convictions: aggravated assault, from hitting a promoter with a pool cue, and possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. Both incidents happened in 2005.
Recently, he had been asked to turn over all guns and ammunition to authorities. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison for each charge, as well as a $250,000 fine.
