"Grito Mundial" Video Review
Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee (best known for 2000s party anthems "Gasolina" and "Impacto") has released the first FIFA World Cup 2010 inspired song that we know of – "Grito Mundial" (or "World Cup Shout" in English). I think he aims score the kind of goal Ricky Martin did with his 1998 hit, "The Cup of Life".
- "Fans are pushing for this first single from the Puerto Rican artist's upcoming album, "Daddy Yankee Mundial", to be used as the official World Cup anthem. With so many samba whistles, "Grito" could easily be dedicated to Brazil, but Yankee's self-penned lyrics call for unity among all Latin American countries. It's another potential radio hit with plenty of gasolina." - Billboard
The video for "Grito Mundial" was filmed in Argentina and Brazil. It features a sequence filmed at Boca Juniors legendary La Bombonera stadium during half-time the club's meeting with Chacarita in Novemebr 2009. Additional Argentine footage was filmed in the Buenos Aires neighborhoods of Lugano and Finochietto.
