Green Day’s Lead Singer Billie Joe Armstrong Ejected from Airplane Flight
Punk rock band Green Day’s Frontman Billy Joe Armstrong was ejected from an airplane flight on Thursday due to his low-hanging pants. Yes this is exactly what it sounds like.
The “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” boarded a Burbank-bound airplane of Southwest Airlines when the incident occurred and soon after it, he took to micro-blogging website Twitter to share with the world what had just happened to him.
Armstrong tweeted, “Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f--- No joke!”
According to ABC7’s Cindy Qiu, who was also on the same flight, the incident took place minutes before the plane was scheduled to take off. A flight attendant approached Armstrong and asked to lower his trousers or risk being thrown out of the plane. He didn’t oblige and the flight attendant stayed true to her words.
As soon as the word got out, Southwest Airlines issued a statement to apologise for their employee’s unnecessary behaviour.
The airline’s spokesman Brad Hawkins said, “As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer's experience. He elected to take the next flight. We followed up with this Customer and involved Employees to get more details and, in our latest conversations, understand from the Customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction."
