Gravity by Sara Bareilles
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do, I still feel you here 'till the moment I'm gone.
You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your reign.
CHORUS
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

You loved me 'cause I'm fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone.
CHORUS
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.
I live here on my knees as I
Try to make you see that you're
Everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you're neither friend nor foe though I
Can't seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down
You're keeping me down, yeah, yeah, yeah
You're onto me, onto me and all over
Something always brings me back to you
It never takes too long

"all my fragile strength is gone". By ending the song with the final two lines used, Bareilles makes it seem impossible to get end an addiction, that addiction is a definite in life and also very dangerous as it seems to haunt you forever.
to end, "Set me free, Leave me be" and the seeming impossibility of it ending, "But you're on to me and all over me", giving a sense of being surrounded or captured by the addiction itself. The lyrics also show the lack of control the person has over their addiction, shown by the repetition of the word "always" with no real explanation as to why it happens. The person feels like the addiction has taken control of them in their weakness, "you loved me 'cause i'm fragile" and now there is no hope of escape, "
The lyrics to this song could be interpreted in many different ways.
One way is that the lyrics are a reflection on a past heartbreak. The memories of the past are haunting her, "you hold me without touch", she could just be remembering how he touched her. She wants to get away from these memories so she can be free.
Another way of reading the lyrics (and my favourite version), is that the song is about addiction. The song details the struggles of trying to end an addiction, both the intense longing for it
