Grammy Awards Plan Whitney Houston Tribute
The Wrap has revealed plans set forth by the Grammy Awards to pull together a tribute in honor of Whitney Houston’s death. Since, an outpour of sorrow has swept over the web from fans, family and celebrities, after Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel due to unknown causes.
With the Grammy Awards fast approaching and ready to be televised tonight, executive producer Ken Ehrlich has confirmed with the L.A. Times that singer Jennifer Hudson will be perform a “respectful” musical tribute to Whitney Houston at the big event set to air on the CBS Network. "It's too fresh in everyone's memory to do more at this time, but we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Whitney's remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years,” Ehrlich explained.
Since news of Whitney Houston’s shocking death, celebrities who have worked with the legendary songstress and award winning artist over the years have spoken out to share their overwhelming sadness. "I just can't talk about it now. It's so stunning and unbelievable," said singer Aretha Franklin after hearing the news. "I couldn't believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen." While Rihanna tweeted, "No words! Just tears #DearWhitney.” Mariah Carey was also devastated over the 'I Will Always Love You' singer’s passing. “She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”
Houston’s death also caused her ex-husband Bobby Brown to break down on stage during a concert in Mississippi. Brown, who shared daughter Bobbi Kristina with Whitney, was informed of Whitney’s death just hours before a scheduled concert. Although reports have shared that Brown was reluctant to go on with the show, he did finally come on stage. During his performance he shouted "I love you, Whitney!", per reports from US Magazine, before blowing a kiss to the sky, with tear filled eyes.
The Whitney Houston Tribute will take place tonight during the Grammy Awards that’s kick off at 8pm est on CBS.
