Gotye With Kimbra On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Gotye featuring Kimbra performed Somebody That I Used To Know on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, thus making his US debut with his recent hit song. Kimbra arrived in LA only a short time before the live TV performance. Just prior to this, Kimbra performed as one of the big attractions at the Big Day Out in Melbourne, Australia. She is now accompanying Gotye on his tour of the US, and both will feature at the huge SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas next month.

The quality of the sound in the live performance is excellent, as good as the original song when the music video was released.

Recently "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye featuring Kimbra has become a huge hit on YouTube. Canadian act, Walk Off The Earth featuring Sarah Blackwood have uploaded a cover of the song too, and collectively the two YouTube videos have garnered almost 100 million views... 100 million!!! This is another record, making this the most viewed Australian song of all time.

Now that Gotye and Kimbra are embarking on this US tour, the Internet is likely to be swamped further pushing the number of views way in excess of the 100 million.

Interestingly, the Walk Off The Earth cover shows the five artists all playing just one guitar, but individually taking on various roles at different times singing the lyrics. This original clip has generated more than 40 million hits in just the past few weeks.

On Twitter, Gotye wrote, "I know who to ask for help with acoustic versions of ‘Somebody’: Walk Off The Earth. Hilarious and brilliant."

Kimbra also wrote, "This is truly awesome!! Now, THAT’S team work."

Gotye's latest album Making Mirrors has just been released in the US.
