Gotye Has Just Released His Latest Music Video 'Somebody That I Used To Know'
Australian musician, Gotye, has just released his latest studio album Making Mirrors. Having previously made three studio albums since 2002, Gotye is an ARIA Award-winning singer and songwriter who has independently released his music.
Currently, the album Making Mirrors and the single "Somebody That I Used to Know" are both sitting at the number one position in the Australian charts. The last time anybody had an album and a single at the top was in 2007 when Silverchair were in their prime. The single (which is a duet with Kimbra) has taken everyone by surprise. Talking about the song Kimbra said, "I thought it'd be a nice, chilled track. I loved it, but I had no idea how far it'd go."
The stop-motion music video for "Somebody That I Used to Know" has also just hit the airwaves, and it really enhances the song. Initially, it looks very simple. A naked Gotye starts singing. A pattern is painted on the wall and then it becomes painted onto his body. The same happens with Kimbra when she begins with her duet. After the track reaches a crescendo, the body paint starts to disappear.
This series of events is exactly like a relationship between two people. In the beginning, both parties put on their best front to impress. At time progresses, things may improve. If the relationship goes the other way, the people see each other for who they really are. They see the real person "underneath" when all the paint is stripped away.
The amazingly catchy song is about love lost. It's the sort of song that just keeps going around in your head.
